There
are very few places in the world where you can find remote
wilderness and a cosmopolitan resort in the same area. Park
City is such a place. World-class skiing, fishing, golf,
cultural events and night life abound in Park City. In the
surrounding area, the rustic, solitary life of farmers and
ranchers prevails.
History After
a silver rush that spanned two decades, Park City was incorporated
in 1884. The city continued to proper as a mining town until
1949, where the mines shut down. In 1958, United Park City
Mines began to examine the possibility of turning the company's
land into a ski area. Consequently, Treasure Mountain Resort
(now known as Park City Mountain Resort) was born. Today,
Park City is a unique bled of the old and new. Sixty-four
of Park City's buildings are listed on the National Register
of Historic Places, many of which are located on Park City's
Main Street.
Summers
Actvities A lot of locals have been known to have
said, "I came here for the winter and I stayed for
the summer".
Summer offers more than most would think of a small ski
town. Many popular summer activities include: golfing, biking,
hiking, hot air balloon rides, fishing, hunting, and horseback
riding.
Other popular events that happen during the summer months
include the Park City Jazz Festival, Utah Opera & Symphony,
the weekly Music in the Park, Park City Arts Festival and
summer movie series at the Jim Santy Auditorium. These are
just a few of the many happenings here in Park City during
the summer. For a more detail list as well as dates and times

Winters
Actvities Park City in the winter is what attracts
not only all of the yearly visitors and vacationeers, but
is how most locals first came to know the town itself.
The three World-Class ski resorts of Deer Valley, Park
City Mountain Resort, and The Canyons offer some of the
country's best skiing and snowboarding all within minutes
of each other. Other winter activites that are offered
in Park City and the surrounding areas include: snowmobiling,
snow tubing, snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, hot air
balloon rides, and sleigh rides.
If your more of a spector, don't worry, throughout winter
there are many events worth seeing. Park City draws some
of the worlds best skiers and snowboarders for such competitions
as The Worlds Superpipe Championships and the World Cup and
US Freestyle competitions. Don't forget about a little event
called the Sundance Film Festival, where many of Hollywoods
biggest stars can be seen strolling Park City Main Street,
skiing or dining in our fine local establishments.
Of course not all the fun is outdoors. Park City and Deer
Valley offer some of the finest dining and shopping this
side of the ski slopes. How about a massage at one of the
many elegant day spas located at most of the resorts as well
in town? Strolling up and down Park City's historic Main
Street in Old Town can be as fun as any other mountain activity.
Check it out for yourself and we think you'll agree!
